In general, it can reduce fertility. It is also harmful to the male and the production of both the number of spermatozoa, their mobility, etc.

STRESS:

In men, 50% of subfertility cases are due to oxidative stress, since free radicals are formed that reduce the mobility of the spermatozoon and alternate its DNA.

The treatment would be the taking of antioxidants, approximately the daily doses would be of :

Zinc, 100 mg ( seafood such as oysters, eggs, lamb or beef, sea fish, wheat germ, miso

Coenzyme Q10 200 mg ( meat, orange, broccoli, …)

folic acid 0,5 mg, ( avocado, salads, broccoli, …

L-Carnitine 500 mg

vitamin E 400 mg ( vegetable oil, nuts, seeds, green vegetable leaves)

vitamin E 400 mg ( vegetable oil, nuts, seeds, green vegetable leaves)

N aceyl cysteine 600 mg ( meat, eggs and milk, vegetables, onion, yoghurt

Vitamin D ( 80% is produced by sunlight on the skin, and is present in fatty fish such as salmon, sardines, or certain plants containing ergocalciferol or vitamin D2

Lycopene 7 mg ( is a carotene, a natural pigment synthesized by plants that does not convert to vitamin A and can be found in many vegetables such as pumpkin, basil, tomato, carrot, spinach

Lycopene 7 mg ( is a carotene, a natural pigment synthesized by plants that does not convert to vitamin A and can be found in many vegetables such as pumpkin, basil, tomato, carrot, spinach

Astaxanthin (red color of salmon, shrimp,

Polyunsaturated oils

Omega 3 and omega 9 acids, which are essential, that is, they have to be ingested with the diet avoiding trans fats and saturated fats that can end up producing insulin resistance, subfertility and anovulation.

Omega-3s are found in certain algae, vegetable oils such as soybean, rapeseed or flax, in seeds such as pumpkin, sunflower, flax and fatty fish.

Omega 9 is found in virgin olive oil, almonds, peanuts, avocado, pistachios

The best diet is always the Mediterranean diet, with fruits and vegetables, whole grain carbohydrates with fiber, fatty fish, fats with omega 3 and 9 , vitamin D

Caffeine

Studies indicate that high doses of caffeine such as caffeinated energy drinks or more than 4 cups a day increase the incidence of abortion

The possibility of a natural birth or perhaps different alternatives during delivery are contemplated, such as outpatient deliveries, deliveries without or with epidural anesthesia including cesarean section.

Visits and Explorations

In an uncomplicated or low-risk pregnancy, regular check-ups are recommended every 4 weeks from the time the pregnancy is diagnosed until the 32nd week of pregnancy. Thereafter, they can be performed every 2 weeks until the due date. Subsequently, they can be every 2-3 days until the beginning of the 42nd week of gestation at the latest. This is where induction of labour should be proposed.

At each visit, the baby’s heartbeat, growth and weight must be observed to determine the baby’s well-being. At the same time, the mother’s general condition is identified and alterations such as increased vaginal discharge that could be due to an infection, pain, bleeding, tiredness, discomfort when urinating, etc. are ruled out. A vaginal or urinary tract infection may trigger uterine contractions.

The most important dates are :

– After a positive pregnancy test, as long as the future mother has no vaginal bleeding or pain, an ultrasound diagnosis can be made to diagnose an intact intrauterine pregnancy, that is, one that is inside the uterus, and to rule out a pregnancy outside the uterus (extra-uterine pregnancy, such as a tubal pregnancy).

-In the first test, the blood group and Rh factor, the indirect coombs test, chlamydia antibodies, rubella antibodies, hepatitis C and B, AIDS antibodies, toxoplasmosis, blood count, thyroid, iron, blood sugar,

– Week 12 of pregnancy . Down syndrome screening

In each pregnancy there is a small risk of chromosomal diseases such as Down syndrome (trisomy 21) , Patau syndrome or Edwards syndrome as the most common. The possibility of an alteration increases with maternal age. To rule out alterations, screening tests can be performed, which change according to:

Maternal age

Ultrasound with nuchal translucency measurement of the fetus

Determination of PAPP-A and B-HCG in maternal blood, which can be used in a laboratory program to determine the probability of having a baby with Down’s or Edwards syndrome

From the 10th week it is possible to perform a non-invasive prenatal test for the detection of trisomies 13, 18 and 21 as well as fetal sex through the study of free DNA from the fetus in maternal blood.

In case of any suspected ultrasound or if the laboratory results are uncertain, it is advisable to perform an amniocentesis, usually at week 16 of gestation and obtaining 15 ml. amniotic fluid can determine the chromosomal formula of the baby and this if it is diagnostic.

– Week 20 of gestation:

Between the 20th and 22nd week of pregnancy, an ultrasound scan is performed in which all the organs, heart and skeletal system must be observed. At the same time it is possible to perform a 3D-4D ecoraphy that allows us to see better the defects of the face, skin, etc.

Approximately 90 % of the malformations can be diagnosed by ultrasound.

– Week 24 of gestation:

In this week a second analysis is carried out which includes a hemogram to rule out anaemia, determination of toxoplasmosis antibodies as well as a sugar overload with 50 grams, known as the O’sullivan test,

– Week 28 of gestation:

It is advisable to start a course of preparation for childbirth, where we try to break the circle of fear, pain, tension, and thus arrive with the prospect of a birth as normal as possible

– Week 31 of gestation:

Ultrasound control and fetal heart monitoring as well as information on possible collection of umbilical cord blood for preservation of fetal stem cells

– Week 35 of gestation:

The last blood test is performed with the determination of coagulation , hemogram, iron, liver and kidney profile, as well as a vaginal culture of the vaginal canal to rule out the presence of bacteria, including Streptococcus agalactiae.

Group B Streptococcus agalactiae are bacteria that colonize 25% of the birth canal.
