PREGNANCY PREVENTION,
CONTRACEPTION,
In Spain, according to fertility surveys, a significant percentage of women have had fewer children than desired, for various reasons, depending on their age.
Before the age of 30 it is usually because they do not have the right partner and after the age of 40 for reasons of work or balancing work and family life.
Others, such as economic reasons, are in about 20 % of the cases.
On the other hand, 6% of sexually active women are at risk of having an unplanned pregnancy.
The average age of the Spanish woman to have her first child is 31, and the number of children is lower compared to foreign women (Romania is 31) who have more children and at younger ages, making it one of the highest ages in Europe.
That means that Spain has one of the lowest fertility rates in Europe
The number of births has been decreasing since the last decade, from approximately 500,000 in 2010 to 370,000 in 2018.
According to a survey conducted by the Spanish Society for Contraception ( SEC ), the average age of sexual debut (r.s.) is approximately 16 years and 6 months on average.
On the other hand, the rate of voluntary interruptions of pregnancy has its highest figures over 96,000 in 2018, among pregnant women aged 20 to 40. The most common failure method is the misuse of condoms, non-use of a contraceptive method and hormonal methods.
A woman has a fertile period of approximately 35 years during which she will need an effective method of contraception if she does not wish to expand her family.
The SEC in the year 2018, tells us that 3 out of 4 women use a contraceptive method while maintaining r.s. although 6% of sexually active women are at risk of unwanted pregnancy.
The most commonly used methods of contraception are:
-anovulatory pill 17%.
-Copper IDU 4%
-Hormonal DDIU 4%
-vaginal ring 2.9%
-quarterly progesterone injection 0.2%
-tubal ligation and vasectomy 9%
-NONE 27%
-CONDOM 26.9%
Of the women who use condoms, up to 30% sometimes do not use them at all, for some “additional reason”, such as that their partner does not want them ( ?? The woman always has to protect herself), because they have consumed some substance such as alcohol or drugs that disorient them (that is why these substances are also harmful), because they lose sensitivity, so as not to interrupt their partner to put it on (you have to put it on before you start!), as it is said before it rains, “sparks”, that is, before ejaculation or just in case there is a loss of seminal fluid) because there are no condoms on hand (they can be bought in pharmacies, supermarkets, gas stations, etc., regardless of age)
The condom is used from the beginning by 63%, 80% of which are girls between 15 and 20 years old, that is, the youngest ones, and it decreases up to 50% at 35 years old, with the idea that the experience and the possibility of pregnancy decrease with age.
Although it is up to the woman to prevent pregnancy, as is almost always the case, she must also prevent possible sexually transmitted diseases.
The average number of separations occurs in women at the age of 50.
