Pelvic floor incontinence

Some factors that can weaken or damage the pelvic floor are:
– age and especially in menopause with the decrease in hormones and the consequent atrophy and dryness,
-pregnancy, especially the number of them,
-Births, especially in deliveries that greatly prolong the delivery period, or the use of forceps or suction cups, in large children, etc,
-postpartum, etc
– certain sports such as volleyball or running, trampoline, etc.
Symptoms that can be noticed when the pelvic floor is weakened can be:
Difficulty starting to urinate or completely emptying your bladder. It may or may not be accompanied by leakage of urine.
Feeling that something is falling out, as the uterus slides into the vagina or protrudes from it, something comes out of the vagina or even the presence of a lump, or pain in the vagina that worsens at the end of the day or when defecating over all if it is accompanied by constipation.
Urination urgency
Fecal or gas incontinence
Some of these common alterations or dysfunctions are:
Organ descent (prolapse)
Urinary incontinence or loss of urine when coughing, laughing, lifting a weight, …
Pelvic pain
Constipation
Sexual dysfunctions (dyspareunia, vaginismus, erectile dysfunction …)

Prevention and treatment or strengthening of the pelvic floor:
The pelvic floor must be strengthened and exercised frequently, after childbirth, when there is a weight to lift, etc., and whenever possible.
There are many techniques for this, supported by yoga, Pilates, etc. that exercise the pelvic floor.
You can also go to a physiotherapist since the pelvic floor physiotherapy or urogynecological physiotherapy aims to improve and prevent alterations that may occur in the pelvic floor area and the treatment of the physiotherapy sessions themselves will be combined with the performance of exercises at home by the patient.
Doctors have several essential tools, such as medicines, exercises or devices:
– in menopause, the use of creams with bioidentical hormones for local or systemic treatment,
– the use of a genital laser in which the formation of heat produces collagen formation
– use of a chair with electrostimulation. This is the simplest treatment we have since the patient only has to sit comfortably and dressed in an armchair that has 2 solenoids, which produce contractions of the pelvic floor for a period of about 30 minutes.
